Group C Exercises: Position VII Higher Notes

For some ledger lines above the staff

Exercises in this group have notes too high for first position and may even span the full range of position VII. These high notes include the most common ledger lines above the staff.

Fretboard diagram for position VII higher notes

This adds the six notes on top that are too high for position I. It also includes the “yellow zones” mentioned in an earlier section showing the hazardous notes that are just out of reach but needed for playing a complete chromatic scale.

Scales to practice across position VII

Scale 9. Minor thirds hit all the notes in position VII.

Scale 10. A baby bee in the yellow zone.
